About Yemen
Yemen is located on the Arabian Peninsula. Yemen is culturally, geographically, and economically different from other Gulf countries. It is rich in tradition and history. The old city of Sana’a, the capital, famous for its tower houses, is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. At an altitude of 2,300 meters it is also one of the highest capitals in the world and experiences a mild weather and two rainy seasons a year, while the rest of the peninsula is scorching. Unlike its northern and eastern neighbors, Yemen has not experienced a big influx of foreigner workers. Thus the cost of living is extremely cheap, the cheapest from all the other Arab countries, in fact. On average, your living costs would be between $200-$250 a month.

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

It is important to use both authentic materials and a coursebook for teaching the students. Students can benefit from both types of material. Sometimes a book can provide outdated material which can be hard to use in the classroom, this is when authentic material will make the lesson more interesting. Books are helpful to use as a guide for teaching and provide a step by step approach for the student. These concepts are very hard and very confusing. I do not feel like I have a good understanding of the content and certainly - at this stage of my learning - feel confident to teach the subject matter to students. It is so interesting to see that for a native English speaker, I am not even aware of these aspects of my own language. It is just absorbed through use and opportunity - or used incorrectly!
