The Language Department oversees the English and French Programs which averages 700 students a semester, from all the majors at Universidad del Noroeste. There are 1660 students actually registered at UNO.
UNO is affiliated to an educational group that was founded back in 1918, and its campus is located outside of the city limits.
Instituto Soria High School is located in the original campus in the downtown area, close to the commercial and financial area of the city. Currently there are about 600 students registered at IS.
THE CITY:
Hermosillo is the capital city of Sonora. It is a border state, which means that is significantly different from the touristic parts of Mexico. It is definitely Mexico but the influence of the U.S. is apparent. Life here is often dictated by the climate, which is over 110 during the summer months, which is a great time to spend a weekend in nearby Kino Bay or San Carlos Bay.

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

I have studied how it is important to break down a lesson into manageable chunks, depending on the needs of the students and what they are learning. It is important to be flexible and to have lots of resources available for the students to use. The lessons need to retain the ESA order, with some flexibility (boomerang or patchwork structure) if needed. I have considered lots of useful activities for studying and practising the language.Unit 11 brings up the receptive skills (reading and listening). All skills, being them receptive or productive, are equally important. Receptive skills are divided into two, purpose or entertainment. These two categories can be mixed depending on what the reader or listener purpose. While teaching, teachers need to know the class level, interest and probable difficulties. Always aware to vocabulary problems that can occur in the lesson.
