Unit 19 discusses the various techniques that can be used when teaching to special groups. Different types of groups of people need different learning and working activities. It is very important to focus your lessons on the needs of the students in the classroom. Understanding student's needs and struggles will help the teacher tailor and differentiate the lessons to the needs of the students in the class.This unit introduces some of the materials we may use in our classes. We examine the positives, negatives and limitations of coursebooks and look at examining them to see which is best in different circumstances. We also look at was to supplement textbooks with different activities and worksheets and examine as well their strengths and weaknesses and which stage of an ESA lesson they may be appropriate for.
