Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

This unit focused on the receptive skills of reading and listening. These are equally important and can happen for a purpose or for entertainment. There are different skills employed such as skimming, scanning, deduction, prediction, and detailed comprehension. To help students, the teacher needs to be mindful of pre-teaching vocabulary and carefully selecting texts, and choosing topics that create interest. The unit took me through present tenses, fundamental issues of English grammar and some common errors that students make when using these tenses. It also looked at the need for ESL teachers to formulate correctional strategies to deal with these errors. I have learnt some forms and usage of these tenses. I have also learnt some activities that I can use to encourage students to make use of these tenses.
