Regular TEFL Positions in Japan

Date posted:2014-10-01 | Writer: Modern English | Email: info@modernenglish.net

Modern English Language School in Osaka has regular opportunities for TEFL certified teachers. We are a small, foreign-owned, private school in operation since 1998 and pride ourselves on our ‘at home’ atmosphere, our close relations with our students and our position in the local community. We are a minute’s walk from Korien Station on the Keihan Line in Hirakata, Osaka-Fu. There is cheap accommodation nearby and the location offers quick and easy access to Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe and Nara. We also have franchise schools in Sembayashi, Tezukayama, Ikeda, Kitaoji, Onohara, Chatan (Okinawa), Uehonmachi, Hakodate and Minoh.

We are looking for non-smoking, motivated, energetic, positive, native level English teachers who have some, but not too much, experience, are open to training and new ideas, can follow and adapt and add to a set curriculum, enjoy talking, but know when to be quiet and listen and get others to talk

enjoy language - their own and others, like working with people, love kids, are positive and have a 'can-do' attitude. All positions involve teaching both kids and adults and provide paid break and preparation time, four weeks' paid holiday, travel expenses, paid training and visa sponsorship. This individual must be motivated and 100% reliable.

TEFL certification required. Some teaching experience is essential, some Japanese language ability preferable, though not essential in the right candidate.

We are closed four weeks each year, plus national holidays. Teaching salaries are calculated pro rata on a full-time salary of ¥250,000 per month. For head office positions we pay travel expenses to a maximum of ¥600 per day at a monthly pass rate for teaching positions at head office and up to ¥1,000 per day for company classes.

Please send a resume with photo and brief cover letter to the email address given on the job heading. Previous applicants are welcome to apply. We regret that only successful applicants will be contacted for interview. This will generally be within two weeks of receiving your application.

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

This unit was helpful illustrating different types of reading and listening skills that are commonly used as well as two main reasons for reading and listening to different sources. It also illustrated potential issues that could come up when trying to teach English and using these skills as well as ways to overcome these issues and prevent other issues that can be factored into a lesson plan. This unit is similar to the an earlier one. It is helpful to be reminded of the various tenses. Past tense is quite interesting, since in some cases action is often left open, and without qualification can lead to confusion. In the past, I have confused passive voice with clunky past tenses, an error that I committed when I was first learning how to write or identifying the parts of speech.
