Foyle Language School is a well established family run language college based in the beautiful and historic city of Derry, North West Ireland. We have occasional opportunities for TEFL qualified teachers for our summer programmes for both adults and teenagers, as well as year round courses at a variety of levels. Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

When starting a new class it is important to give a diagnostic test to know the level of the students. It will also be beneficial for the teacher, it helps the teacher design a lesson base on the level of the class. It also important to give progress test to know whether or not the students are learning. In my case, I always give a short quiz to know whether or not the students understand the new lesson.This unit, had me thinking about how we all take different things from what we hear, and read. So my reflection on this unit reminds me to make sure that any lessons I use with my students will need to be topics that they all will understand. In doing this I can work on the listening, comprehension, reading and vocabulary that need to be worked to make the lesson full and productive for all the students.
