Teach Young Learners EFL in Indonesia

Date posted:2014-12-02 | Writer: CaSE Medan | Email: [email protected]

We are looking for qualified and experienced EFL teachers (both local and native-speaking) who are comfortable teaching all levels and ages, but particularly Young Learners. Candidates must be enthusiastic, self-motivated, TEFL qualified and be able to work independently as well as part of a team.

Our school is a small, independently-owned establishment which is known for its fun and effective teaching practices. Much of our business comes from word-of-mouth, and many of our students have been with us for several years; therefore, it is important for us to hire teachers who find it easy to create a strong rapport with the students.

The age range of our students is 6 years old to adult, but the majority of our students are teenagers. Most students come from the more affluent section of society and are, with very few exceptions, polite and respectful. Most of them have a very heavy school schedule with lots of extra-curricular activities, so one of the challenges here is to keep some very tired students engaged.

Your spoken and written English must be of a very high standard and you should be enthusiastic about teaching both adults and young people. Your teaching style should be friendly and student-orientated and your lesson plans should be innovative and stimulating.

Ideally, you should have experience of teaching English at all levels, including TOEFL and IELTS preparation. Attitude, enthusiasm and a desire to challenge both yourself and your students are paramount for a CaSE teacher.

Our packages are very competitive and include flight and housing allowance. It can be very cheap to live here, depending on your lifestyle, and so it is easily possible to save money. We also provide medical insurance and make all necessary working visa arrangements.

There has recently been a tightening up of immigration requirements, and candidates must now be aged between 25-55. You must have a degree, a TEFL certificate and at least 5 years experience showing on your CV. Without meeting all of these requirements we will not be able to secure a work visa for you.  Please do not apply if you don't meet these requirements. Only short-listed candidates will be contacted.

To apply, please send an email to the address given on the job heading along with your full CV, copies of your certificates (and passport for native-speaking applicants) and a cover letter.

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

Unit 5 taught me about classroom management and the different things i can do to maintain discipline as well as keeping the attention of my students. I learned about the pros and cons of group pairing, different classroom set ups and which gestures to use. I feel that i already have a good understanding of this unit, but i found the part about reducing teacher talk time to be the most helpful. The focus of this unit was on basic grammar rules. It covered the different types of grammar that are used in English sentences such as pronouns, adjectives, adverbs, verbs, etc. From completing this unit I feel that I learned a lot more about how sentences are structured, as well as the rules (and exceptions) behind why words are placed in the orders that they are when we formulate sentences.
