Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

This lesson is important for me because I have not considered exactly how our brains process language. Understanding the meaning of words based on preexisting knowledge to develop an understanding is a concept I did not consider before when teaching new language to my students. I am sure to consider their understanding of the language in order to teach them how to understand the meaning of what is being said in my future lessons. This unit interested me because it broke down how to make reading and listening approachable for the students. Often when we learn a new language we think that perhaps knowing each word and it’s meaning will help us comprehend the context of what we are reading. However, as a multilingual speaker, I know this is not true. Therefore, I appreciated the advice of discouraging students from the habit of needing to know every word.
