Energetic Teachers Required toTeachTEFL in France

Date posted:2009-06-24 | Writer: American Village Camps | Email: [email protected]

American Village camps are linguistic immersion camps for French children. The primary goal is to aid and encourage French children to communicate in English, not only in the classroom, but though various activities, culture and sports, in an environment that is both secure and fun. Seeking native-English speaking (preferably North American) counselors to embody North American culture for the camp.

The American Village season is divided into four segments: Winter, Spring, Easter and Summer.

Winter session: February
Spring and Easter sessions: March to June
Summer sessions: June to August

As we are a language immersion camp and not a language school this position is for that of a Camp Counselor, and is not a formal teaching position. All language counselors are hired to the same position, no one is only a teacher and no one is only an activities counselor. All applicants must be willing to perform all roles as a counselor. A TEFL qualification is an advantage however. You should be capable of working long, demanding days, while maintaining a positive attitude. Our counselors can work independently without forgetting the importance of team-work and supporting one another.

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

This was definitely the hardest unit I have come across thus far. I spent the most amount of time studying the material for this unit. The first half of the material related to general lesson planning was easy, but I had a difficult time applying and deciding what steps of the engage, study, and activate phases were being enacted by certain tasks. This is definitely a unit that I should revisit in the future. This unit thought me how to manage my classroom effectively. I've learned that how I handle myself in front my students will be their inspiration learning the language. I also learned the different factors to consider organizing a classroom and the pros and cons of each setting. Most of all It answered the biggest fear I have 'discipline'. I can say that this unit will be the foundation of my teaching manner.
