Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.
I have never considered designing a lesson that relies solely upon a textbook. That being said I think it is unfair to try and force each teacher to re-invent the wheel as they join a school. There are incredible resources out there. As long as they do not replace, as was mentioned in this lesson, the teachers own creativity and sensitivity to the needs of the students. I particularly enjoyed New English File as a textbook.This was the last unit on grammar and it was difficult and not as detailed I feel in all sections. The section about relative clauses and phrasal verbs were lacking in explanation and examples. One thing I find helpful is examples and check ups, but it would also be more helpful if the checks told what the answer should be with an explanation. I got an overall understanding of the topic and will continue my study on my own.
