English Language Teaching Assistants Needed for School in Costa Rica

International Schools Partnership are currently recruiting Graduate Learning Assistants for our schools in Costa Rica. Successful applicants will be appointed to a school on a fixed-term basis for the academic year. This is an ideal position for recently qualified EFL teachers. After successful completion of the programme, GLAs may be able to apply for and complete an iPGCE at one of our schools with a view to becoming a permanent teacher.The GLA programme has been specifically designed to provide recent graduates who are interested in a teaching career with the opportunity to work as teaching assistants in our international schools. It’s the perfect opportunity for those looking to combine launching their TEFL career by working in and learning about a different culture, and we are excited to offer such a unique programme to enable us to attract the very best in graduate talent.GLAs work as support staff in a school assisting with the day to day teaching and learning of the children, under the direction and supervision of a fully qualified teacher. GLAs will play a full and active part in the school’s clubs and extracurricular activities.In boarding schools, GLAs may be asked, on a rota basis, to support, supervise and lead our boarding children. This will include evening duties and occasional weekend duties as required by the school.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:• Providing English support to children with reading and writing as well as verbal and listening skills on an individual, class and / or small group basis• Providing classroom support in the school• Helping to develop programmes of learning activities and adapting appropriate learning materials• Motivating and encouraging pupils, providing extra help and support where needed• Attending school events as reasonably requested by the Headteacher• Assisting with school events, trips and activities throughout the week and occasionally on a weekend• Attending meetings and reviews• Assisting with marking and correcting work• Assisting and supporting with marketing initiatives at schools, ISP and student recruitment campaigns• Providing occasional sickness cover for classes taught in English as reasonably requested by the Headteacher• Providing English support to international teachers as requiredYou will be supported upon arrival at the school and will be mentored by experienced teachers as you settle in.Roles will start late August / early September 2020.The health and wellbeing of all our students, employees and families remains our main priority during this rapidly evolving pandemic.Whilst we are currently recruiting for our Graduate roles as planned, we will continue to monitor the situation and will adhere to the advice of regional health authorities, the World Health Organisation and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. We hope to be in a position to go ahead with all our placements but this may not be possible if advice indicates that it is not safe to so. Consequently, certain placements may need to be postponed, put on hold or cancelled depending on the advice at the time.Any offers will therefore be made subject to the developing situation with regards Coronavirus in the school’s region / country and in terms of travel from the candidate’s country of residence.
