Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

This unit was about teaching reading and listening comprehension. The most powerful part of the unit was about both skills requiring the use of the mind to understand words but then needing to process them within the context of their own experience to genuinely understand them. To genuinely motivate and interest the students, there must be some type of bridge between the text and the students' lives - which may not be so easy. This unit is all about what makes a teacher who they are and how to manage a classroom effectively. Each teacher is different, and will use different tools at different degrees. Gesturing, eye contact, and positioning are just a few of the ways to maneuver in a classroom. Even the positioning of the students can effect how the atmosphere of the class goes. This unit makes me think about how I would hold myself in my own class.
