We are seeking a dedicated Teacher of English to join our team. Your primary role will be topromote and ensure quality teaching and effective learning of English, while supporting thewider aims of the British Council and its cultural relations mission. Role Accountabilities You will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality English language lessons thatmeet the needs of diverse customer groups, taking into account individual learning styles.Monitoring student progress and providing regular feedback to manage performance andpromote learner autonomy will be key aspects of your role. You will also contribute to thedevelopment, evaluation, and improvement of English language courses, materials, andrelated services by actively collaborating with the teaching team. Administrative tasks related to teaching will need to be completed to specified standards.Engaging in professional development and performance management is essential to ensurehigh standards in teaching and learning, maintaining the British Council’s position at theforefront of best ELT practices. Additionally, you will help develop lasting, mutually beneficial relationships by enhancingstudents’ understanding of contemporary UK culture. Assisting the teaching centre team indelivering excellent customer service and upholding British Council Values and Behaviours isalso part of your role. You must ensure that safeguarding and guidelines are applied andupheld in line with standards and policy, including child protection and safeguarding, equalopportunity and diversity, and health and safety. Qualifications Essentials? Cambridge CELTA or Trinity Cert. TESOL? University Degree Desirables? Recognised Diploma in EFL i.e. DELTA or Trinity Diploma? PGCE/B.Ed in Primary or relevant subject? TYLEC or YL extension to CELTA Work Experience Essentials ? 2 years post-certificate (i.e., CELTA or Trinity Cert TESOL) experience ofteaching English as a foreign language in a multi-lingual and multi-nationalenvironment to both young learners and adults? Experience of teaching online in a TEFL environment ? Demonstratable knowledge of safeguarding and SEN? Experience in teaching relevant age groups:? Primary aged 6 to 10 (800+ hours)? Lower Secondary aged 11 to 14 (800+ hours)? Upper Secondary aged 15 to 17 (300+ hours)? Adult teaching (800+ hours) Desirables? Business English/Corporate client teaching? Pre-school teaching (age 5-6)? Knowledge of the Malaysian education system? Experience of teaching in different cultural contexts? Experience of teaching Exam preparation courses – (Cambridge, IGCSE,IELTS) Language Requirement ? Proficiency in English i.e., FULL mastery of English across all 4 skills -equivalent to user (CEFR C2) IELTS Band 8/9 in each of 4 sections of theacademic module, with certification Salary & Benefits? Salary: Monthly gross MYR 5,887 - MYR 7,647 (depending on qualification andexperience). Any additional teaching hours delivered are compensated with anhourly overtime rate.? Work schedule: The Malaysia Teaching Centre is looking to recruit an 18GH-hour teacher to join the team from July 2025. Teachers in Malaysia are expectedto work both weekend days, with two consecutive weekdays off for over 40weeks of the year. Important InformationPassport requirements/ Right to work in the country:? The post holder must have the right to work in Malaysia. To obtain a work visafrom the Malaysia Immigration Department, expatriate post holders must have:? Passport must be valid for a minimum of TWO years from theemployment start date and contain at least SIX consecutive blankpages for the visa to be issued.?
