This unit focuses more on reading and listening skills, and also focuses more on the importance of these skills.This content also elaborates more on the importance of these skills and also covers different techniques and activities associated with them.I have also learnt that reading and listening is not only based on eyes and ears but also something of the mind.I have also learnt a number of specialist skills when reading or listening.The unit contained a concise summary of the theory and methods behind teaching phonics and pronunciation. Intonation and stress are important concepts to learn if an ESL students is to be ready to understand the more nuanced aspects of listening and speaking. There are a variety of techniques to teach this, but unfortunately the teaching of phonics tends to fall by the wayside in favour of the more concrete aspects of language learning.
