Position For TEFL Qualified Teacher in Argentina

Date posted:2011-08-23 | Writer: English Language Advising Services | Email: [email protected]

English Language Advising Services needs a professional adult EFL teacher for classes around the Northern part of Buenos Aires and Provincia. We are a small, teacher-run start up company which is growing, mostly via word-of-mouth recommendations. We provide the highest-quality teaching to clients (usually medical or technical professionals) in a relaxed and conversational environment. Teachers should be able to tailor materials to students' interests and professional needs. Teachers need to be able to prepare and print materials, and in some cases need to provide an MP3 player or some similar type of equipment to play audio files in class. Our business philosophy is that teachers working in a peer-environment with a reasonable amount of respect will prioritize classes and provide better teaching to clients. Work comes class by class, as clients come in to the company. In an attempt to limit travel time, we go to great lengths to put students with teachers who live or work nearby. Currently there are a few classes to be placed in Florida and Vicente Lopez. We pay $38 pesos an hour. If you have any room in your schedule to fill, please respond to this posting.

In most cases, the clients prefer an American teacher to a British English teacher due to accent training needed for work. Candidates must be TEFL/TESOL certified or have ample experience. Only applicants who are planning to stay in Buenos Aires until year's end or longer will be considered. Due to the overwhelming response to these job postings, we ask that all responses contain the following information in list format, to Charlotte Jenkins at the e-mail address given on the job heading, as follows:
1) Name, nationality and region where you are from, approximate age (i.e. mid-twenties, mid-thirties, etc. unless you find the question offensive, in which case omit the information.)
2) Barrio where you live
3) State whether you are willing to work Saturday afternoons/ Evenings/Early mornings (i.e. Saturday -yes/ Evenings - yes/ Early mornings - prefer other schedule)
4) Provide your schedule in a chart, either typed into the body of the email as follows or attached as a spreadsheet (though one which can be viewed without signing in, etc). List what times you are already busy and WHERE. Example:
Mon: 8:00-10:00 Almagro 2:00-3:30 Palermo 6:00-9:00 Recoleta (again this means that you are NOT available at those times because you are teaching elsewhere or go to the gym, etc. In the case that something could be moved for the right offer, indicate this please). Listing where you are already working helps me see possibility in your schedule, so please do include that information.

Thank you very much for your time and good luck in your job search.

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

Unit 7 explains the techniques of teaching a new language. I have learnt factors to consider when teaching new vocabulary, introducing grammatical structures and new language functions. The factors are dependent on the lesson segments ESA. For example, there are a wide range of different tools to choice from in teaching new vocabulary, but they are specific to each segment of Engage, Study and Activate.Managing classes is extremely important because it is the platform for the teacher to instruct the students. Based on the size, experience and individual personalities of the students, the size of the classroom, all will be a factor for the teacher to pass on his/her knowledge of the English language. it is important that the students get their studies off to a solid start, which will reduce bad habits.
