Is TEFL accepted in the Middle East?

Yes, TEFL is accepted in many parts of the Middle East and is commonly requested for English teaching jobs in private language schools, international schools, training centers, and corporate English programs. A 120-hour TEFL certificate is often considered the standard entry-level qualification for teaching English as a foreign language, especially for new teachers or those applying to private institutions. That said, hiring requirements in the Middle East can be stricter than in some other regions. Employers in countries such as the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, and Bahrain may prefer candidates who also have a bachelor’s degree, prior teaching experience, or a formal teaching license, particularly for higher-paying school or university positions. Entry-level opportunities may still exist, but they are usually more competitive. An online TEFL certification can be accepted by many employers, especially if it includes at least 120 hours of training. ITTT offers online TEFL and TESOL courses that cover essential teaching skills such as lesson planning, classroom management, grammar awareness, and teaching methodologies, which are all useful for preparing to teach in the Middle East. Before applying, it is always best to check the specific requirements of each employer and country, as visa and hiring rules can vary and may change over time.
