Old Hand - English Idioms

The idiom "old hand" refers to someone with a lot of experience in doing something, for example: If you have any questions, ask Lisa. She's done this job before and is an old hand at project planning.

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching. This convenient, highly structured design means that you can quickly get to grips with each section before moving onto the next.

Unit 18 went over modals, phrasal verbs, and the passive voice. It also covered the basic rules and gave charts explaining each verb and their uses. I learned how to recognize the difference between the active and passive voice. I also learned about the relative clauses and what each on is. It took me awhile grasping the phrasal verbs, but I hope that it finally clicked.I learned a great deal from this lesson - I did not know anything about the Cambridge Assessment and how many different categories there are. I also learned the importance of when and how to give exams and how helpful they can be at the beginning and throughout the course of the class. The example placement test is extremely useful and I will definitely use it in the future.
