Reading as a Key to Success - TEFL Blog

Thu, 12 Mar 2020 Elizaveta Pachina Teaching Ideas Reading as a Key to Success A book is an important source of knowledge and "knowledge is power". There is no doubt that reading is beneficial to everyone. Reading builds a good foundation to improve both speaking and writing skills since the more we read the more vocabulary we have available for us to use when we speak or write. This way we could better express our thoughts. Also, the more we read, the broader our knowledge base, and thus the more resources we have when we are dealing with problems. Francis Bacon said, "Reading gives a person with pleasure, give a person...  [Read more]

Fri, 25 Oct 2019 Elizaveta Pachina Alumni Experiences Parent Influence on Child Education Parents are the first teachers a child interacts with, from age zero to around three or four years when the child is exposed to early childhood education at schools. The parent role at this point is very critical for educating the child in; the culture of the society, religion of the family, the first language of the family and educational mentors among the family. Infants at this age are normally very keen on the happenings on the surrounding, and so they tend to model the behavior of the parents or the caregivers. Parents can help the infants feel secure and protected by playing with them. Infants can learn to build social connections when the parents let them be held by other people when...  [Read more]

There was no space to leave the class once the children had fallen asleep. I had to make sure that all my belongings were out of the class once the students came in for their naptime or I had to leave whatever was forgotten behind once I was one my way to my next job. In unit 3 on page 21, they talk about the whole class grouping pros and cons and that is really explained well where they say "class grouping is suitable for...  [Read more]

The Importance of Using Flashcards with Teens and Adults - TEFL Blog

Tue, 07 Jul 2020 Elizaveta Pachina Teaching Ideas The Importance of Using Flashcards with Teens and Adults I'm pleased to say that I could teach or lead a class to learn English as a foreign language, challenging and rewarding. I have little experience tutoring adults in learning English. My studies learning what could be ahead for a teacher looking to lead a class in English was so rewarding. The challenge to get the students to engage in activities is a top priority for the teacher. I'll have to develop and practice proven ways to present to the class a lesson where the students may absorb the English language and will stay with them for the rest of their life. I had to give some thought about what I would write for my Essay and how I would present this topic, so I'm happy to be...  [Read more]
