How much time off will I get when teaching English abroad?
Whatever job we are doing and wherever we are doing it we all need some time off to recharge our batteries and to enjoy the country and culture in which we are living. Traveling around our host country during the holidays is a great way to get to know the people and to experience the local way of life in a way that most tourists can never do. Whether it is Diwali in Mumbai, Songkran in Bangkok, Ramadan in Dubai, or Christmas in Berlin, major holidays provide the perfect opportunity to really experience the local culture up close and personal. There is typically no better time to explore the music, dance, and cuisine of your new home than during one of the country’s most important cultural or religious festivals.

Why I Did Volunteer Teaching in Nepal and You Should Too
Volunteer teaching in Nepal is thoroughly rewarding! The need for engaging and enthusiastic teachers is so great and the positive impact you can make, even in a short period, is significant. Personally, I had a modest classroom of 16 students comprising a broad range of ages and competency. Those kiddos were quite a handful, but being their teacher was an incredible privilege. Their maturity was striking and yet, at the end of the day, they are still growing boys. They would get rowdy at times and often pulled pranks on each other. Tips & Resources for LGBTQIA+ English Teachers Abroad
Teaching abroad is an exciting and enriching opportunity for anyone, but as an LGBT individual, there are additional challenges and considerations to keep in mind. Moving to a new country means adjusting to a different culture and navigating questions about discrimination, safety, coming out, and handling public displays of affection. While there has been significant progress in LGBT rights globally, including the legalization of same-sex marriage in more countries, there is still work to be done. Therefore, finding a place to teach abroad that is accepting and welcoming to the LGBT community becomes crucial.
