Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

This lesson focused on types of language teaching and how to structure a class. Using a mix of styles to enhance their benefits and minimize their weaknesses is ideal. For example; pairing audio-lingualism and communicative styles for a class of low level learners can give them fluency and and accuracy when speaking. Also, using the ESA method to design a class keeps the students focused and productive throughout the lesson. The engage, study activate system can easily be used in lesson plans to teach grammar, the central architecture of language everything else hangs on. Teaching vocabulary is generally the best introduction, and you choose the most appropriate ones to focus on based on familiarity and practicality. Whatever system you use, you need students to understand how it’s constructed, its meaning, and how to produce it themselves.
