Opportunities For EFL Teachers in Peru

Date posted:2015-09-28 | Writer: English Language Company | Email: [email protected]

This is an exciting opportunity for TEFL graduates to teach in Peru on a government-sponsored program. The Peruvian government has launched a nationwide program designed to improve levels of English for students around the country. English Language Company, Sydney (ELC) has been invited to assist the Peruvian government with the recruitment, orientation and support for these teachers. 14 foreign teachers will be sponsored to teach English in high performance schools from mid-October for 10 months.

This is a unique opportunity for teachers to gain valuable teaching experience within mainstream schools, to have an amazing cultural immersion opportunity and to shape the future of the students they teach. You will have an orientation in Lima and receive support during the program.

Teachers will plan and co-teach with a Peruvian counterpart, teach independently, initiate and run English focused extracurricular activities, classes and clubs, prepare resources and develop and take part in assessment activities.

Teachers will have a 1-week orientation in Lima and then have continued welfare and academic support during the program. It is suitable for teachers with some previous experience wishing to make a valuable contribution to their students and the Peruvian local community. This is also a unique opportunity to have an amazing cultural immersion experience

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

Tenses can be so tricky to teach when it comes to reported speech! There is a lot of room for error, especially when students create examples or dialogues on their own. However, this level of difficulty can also be a great topic to discuss in the classroom. Students can very quickly establish common pitfalls (as seen in the guide) and how to avoid them when using reported speech and tenses. This unit was challenging. The task cards were very helpful and I will definetely be going back to them for review. The video was not much help, rather the readings were much more indepth and made much more sense. I think this chapter was well planned, but just will take time to sink in. Also, it would be helpful to know what grade level or learner level are supposed to have this knowledge.
