EFL Teachers Needed in Peru

Date posted:2013-06-04 | Writer: Extreme Learning Center | Email: [email protected]

Join us in amazing Peru! Experience life in the land of the Incas. Extreme Learning Center, located in beautiful Arequipa, is looking for dynamic, energetic and flexible native level English speaking individuals who are TEFL/CELTA/TESOL certified with at least 10 hours of observed student teaching practice. We always seek individuals with a sense of adventure and a willingness to adapt to the needs of our Peruvian students.

Due to fast growth, we are hiring 4 teachers to start in July, 3 in August, and 2 in September. We require a minimum 6 month commitment so that students have continuity in their education. Peru is a developing country and our students do not pay enough for us to pay for airfare or housing. However, our wages are very competitive for southern Peru (about $5.00 USD per hour which is 4 times minimum wage) and we do pick up new teachers at the airport, provide free housing for 2 nights and assist in finding permanent housing (which is inexpensive). Our management team is made up of Americans with many years of experience and we provide training, observations and monthly feedback. We also work in partnership with University of Wisconsin Eau Claire, Via Lingua International and Universidad La Salle, Peru.

We teach North American English, so being comfortable with American English is important. Experience and Spanish are a plus, but not required for the right candidates.

For more information, please send a photo and one to two page resume to: Professor Larsen, Director, at the email address given on the job heading. Skype interviews are required.

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

This unit contained numerous lesson plans and ideas for student engagement when learning English. This unit contained several techniques that are easy to implement by the teacher and extremely efficient when dealing with multiple types of learners. I have learned many different ways to engaged with my students, as well as multiple was to teach the different types of learners that I will encounter. This unit offers a brief summary of some of the many issues you may encounter as English instructors, and some of the methods you can employ to solve these issues. Most issues are easily addressable and come down to the teacher's attitude and how the teacher treats the class. Many problems that arise aren't intentionally created problems, instead they are created out of frustration by the student.
