Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

This unit explains teaching productive skills. These skills are speaking and writing, which are equally as important as the receptive skills. These skills typically focus on accuracy and fluency. Accuracy correlates to the study phase, while fluency goes with the activate phase. Accuracy is based more on grammar and being correct, while fluency deals more with flow and how comfortable the students are speaking. In this unit, I learned about the two productive skills. The two productive skills are speaking and writing. Basically, the output of someone learning a new language is demonstrated through these two productive skills. The output of these two productive skills branch into accuracy and fluency. One of the difference between accuracy and fluency is that the fluency aspect is less dependent on the teacher's input.
