Shunan English School (SES) in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan, is currently seeking a native level speaker of English to start a full-time EFL teaching position on September 30, 2013, with a six-day training period starting from September 23rd to September 28th, for a monthly salary of 253,000 yen.

A bachelor's degree from a four-year university is required, as well as a valid driver’s license. A TESOL, TEFL or similar teaching qualification, and experience teaching English as a second language are preferred. Teachers should enjoy working with children although SES has students from all age groups.

A company car is provided and, for a small insurance fee, is available for private use although teachers may be asked to share cars. National health insurance is available, or, if employees wish, they may purchase health insurance from a private company. If a teacher rents an apartment through SES, key money and deposit will be paid by SES. In addition, SES management will provide language support to teachers to ease the fulfillment of financial obligations, such as the payment of monthly bills.

Teachers sign a contract for one year, with the option to extend the contract at the completion of its term upon mutual agreement of all parties.

SES, a privately owned company with a staff of both native English speakers and English-speaking Japanese teachers, has been providing instruction in English and other foreign languages since 1972. Currently, SES maintains offices in three cities in Yamaguchi Prefecture, with its main office located in Shunan. In addition to classes taught at its offices, SES offers courses in high schools, colleges, corporate offices, community centers, and private homes. SES also provides translation services.

Shunan is a commercial city of approximately 150,000 people located on the southern coast of Yamaguchi Prefecture along the Inland Sea. Located in western Japan, Yamaguchi has many historic sites and beautiful natural locations, including islands, beaches, mountains, parks, and caverns. Shunan enjoys a mild climate year round. High-speed trains take 30 minutes to reach Hiroshima and 50 minutes to reach Fukuoka.

If you would like to apply, please send 1) a résumé, 2) a cover letter, 3) a copy of the picture page of your passport, 4) a copy of your university transcript(s), 5) a copy of your college diploma, and 6) two letters of reference by email to the email address given on the job heading. Thank you for your interest.

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

I learned Modals, phrasal verbs and passive voice and different skills and ideas form this unit. the Modals are(can, could, may, maight, shall, should, will, would, must, have to, have got to, need to, needn't..)and passive voice (active, passive) and phrasal verbs(type 1,2,3)many information from this unit skills were help me a lot I will use this skill for my students later. Thank you very much. You need to be flexible , as a teacher, when it comes to uses your course book and materials, to see if they are a proper fit with your students. Not all of your students will find the resources that you have been provided, very interesting, relevant, and this will make learning uninteresting. As a teacher, I need to find resources that will engage my students, and help them make connections.
