Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.
This unit had a lot of great ideas to get the kids to wrap their brains around future tenses. They suggested easy to grasp ways to get them kids active and engage in learning these different tenses. One idea I particularly liked was the fortune telling/ palm - reading. This is a fun way to engage the kids in a future tense conversation and interact with each other. They can see if their predictions come true in the future.This has been a great primer on the advantages and disadvantages of course books versus the use of teacher prepared material. A good course book as a great way to stay on topic and track the progress throughout the classes but is not the final say on what a student needs to do in itself. The teachers job is to supplement the coursework when necessary in order to tailor the class to the needs and skills of the people involved.
