Date posted:2017-08-31 | Writer: Smooth Talkers | Email: [email protected]

Smooth Talkers is a company formed on 2012, winner of Chile's Seed Capital Entrepreneur Award in the same year.  We offer customized English courses to companies and individuals in Santiago de Chile, from beginner to advanced courses, and business focused courses.  Classes are held at client's homes or offices, from beginner to advanced levels, to individuals or small groups.

We are looking for motivated native or fluent English speakers with teaching experience or qualifications. You do not need a university degree in the field, but you should have a TEFL certificate or similar. You should be comfortable responding to grammar questions, but also fostering an enjoyable class environment. Speaking Spanish at a pre-Intermediate level or better is a plus.

We have clients from a variety of backgrounds. Many students are from major Chilean companies who need to train their management teams in business English. We also have many private students, ranging from children to graduates intending to further their studies in English-speaking countries, to adults seeking to broaden their employment and travel options.

We fit courses to students' goals and schedules, but we also encourage teachers to bring in their individual experience and successful methodologies. We regularly stay in touch with teachers to make sure everything is on track and try to build long-term relationships, both with teachers and clients.

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

It is believed that lesson planning is not a necessary aspect of teaching as it create a fixed teacher centered lesson. I believe that lesson planning is very important especially for inexperienced teachers as it not only set a target for a teacher to know what to achieve and how to achieve it but it also serves as a record as it can help to measure where exactly students are in lesson. In this unit I learned both the importance and the structure of a formal lesson plan. I learned the many reasons one might produce a written lesson plan and the advantages of doing so. More importantly, I learned the importance of remaining flexible in that plan. Perhaps, the most important part of this lesson though was the concept of self-evaluation as a means to improve my skills.
