StudyRoom is a quickly growing language center in the heart of Almaty. We teach all ages and levels, prepare students for international tests (IELTS, SAT, TOEFL), and offer classes in ten different languages. Because we're growing fast, we need more native level English teachers for the current and upcoming school years. We are looking for enthusiastic, energetic teachers who like working with eager learners.
We're a collaborative group with five native and twenty local teachers. We have weekly teacher trainings to discuss different methodologies and strategies. We celebrate local and Western holidays, and we try to bring a sense of community to the English teachers and learners in Almaty.
Almaty, the largest city in Kazakhstan, is the cultural center of the country. Resting on the foothills of snow-capped mountains, Almaty offers all the conveniences of a modern city (shopping centers, restaurants, performance halls, expat groups) while still maintaining an off-the-beaten-track vibe. It's a unique combination, where you can spend one evening watching the latest Hollywood movie in the cinema and the very next sipping fermented camel milk with your neighbors. Prices are cheap, most international products are available, and locals are welcoming.
Our city has four distinct seasons, with snowy winters and hot summers, orange-flushed autumns and blooming springs. Tourists come here for trekking and skiing, and many enjoy our hidden lakes, beautiful springs, and historical sites.
Job Summary
Because we're a language center, each teacher has a different schedule based on availability and skills. Some teachers are sent to local schools (primary to university) to conduct speaking classes. Others are sent to businesses for business English. We also offer classes at our center for test preparation (including IELTS, SAT, and TOEFL), individual classes, and group classes.
All teachers are expected to create lesson plans, administer tests, complete reports, and participate in celebrations.
Qualifications
We work with teachers of different levels of experience. Our main goal is to find teachers who are adaptable, collaborative, and enthusiastic. That said, a bachelor's degree is necessary and any additional qualifications (especially TEFL-related) are highly encouraged.
Salary and Benefits
The salary package includes 410,000 KZT (after taxes, take home) which is equal to about 1000 USD, 12+ hours of basic Russian language classes, and weekly teacher trainings. To compare, an average local teacher in Kazakhstan gets $350/month.
HOURS PER WEEK: 35
BENEFITS: 12+ hours of basic Russian language classes, and visa.
SALARY: $1000 (plus first two weeks free accommodation) or $800 (plus free shared accommodation, no utilities)
HOLIDAYS: 6 days of paid national holidays.
