What TEFL pathway is best?
There is no single “best” TEFL pathway for everyone. The right choice depends on where you want to teach, how quickly you want to qualify, and whether you prefer independent study or classroom-based training. For many first-time teachers, a 120-hour TEFL certification is the most practical starting point because it is widely recognized by many language schools and online teaching platforms.
If you need flexibility, an online TEFL course is usually the best option. Self-paced online certification lets you study around work, school, or travel plans, and it is often more affordable than classroom-based training. This pathway works well for people preparing to teach English online or apply for entry-level positions abroad.
If you prefer structured learning and direct interaction, an in-class TEFL/TESOL course may be a better fit. Classroom training can provide practical teaching experience, peer interaction, and real-time feedback from trainers. This is especially useful if you are new to teaching and want to build confidence before entering the classroom.
ITTT offers both online TEFL/TESOL certification courses and in-class options, so you can choose the pathway that matches your goals. In general, choose online TEFL for flexibility, in-class TEFL for hands-on practice, and a 120-hour course or higher if you want a solid foundation for teaching English as a foreign language.
