Does TEFL require assignments?

TEFL courses often include assignments, although requirements vary by course level, format, and provider. In a typical TEFL certification course, assignments are designed to check that you understand key areas such as English grammar, classroom management, lesson planning, teaching methods, and how to work with different learner levels. Common TEFL assignments may include creating lesson plans, analyzing language points, completing grammar or methodology tasks, writing short reflections, or preparing materials for a sample class. In-class or combined TEFL/TESOL courses may also include observed teaching practice, where you plan and teach lessons and receive feedback from a trainer. Online TEFL courses can be different. Some are assessed mainly through unit quizzes or end-of-course tests, while others include written assignments or lesson planning tasks. Self-paced options are often flexible, allowing you to complete the work around your schedule, but you still need to meet the course requirements to earn certification. ITTT offers a range of online TEFL and TESOL certification courses, and assignment requirements can differ depending on the specific course you choose. Before enrolling, it is a good idea to check the course outline so you know whether you will complete tests, written tasks, lesson plans, or practical components.
