The Correct Order of Adjectives in English - ✔️ ✔️ ✔️ ITTT
Register now & get certified to teach english abroad!
When you use more than one adjective, you have to put them in the right order or it will sound very strange. Do you say, "I want a big black cat" or "I want a black big cat?" Let's take a look at infographic below.
So, do you say, "I want a big black cat" or "I want a black big cat?"
The first one is correct.
Why?
If "big" is size and "black" is color, then it should come first because size is number (2) and color is number (5) on the infographic above.
You can use this chart for all orders of adjectives. A quick and easy way is to always place the adjective that is easy to change first. Number 1 (Opinion) can be changed more easily than number 6 (Origin: where something is from). It is easy for me to change... [Read more]

Classroom Management in an EFL Setting: Transcending Language to Enhance Learning - TEFL Blog
Elizaveta Pachina
Teaching Ideas
Educators have debated on the topic of classroom management since the first class began. In the same way curricula and teaching cultures vary, as do the intricacies of classroom management. A topic that is, in my opinion, not taught enough in the realm of TEFL, is finding ways to manage a full classroom of young students for an entire day. As the trend for "kindergarten" prep courses rises in China, the void for managing 20+ five-year-olds has been dark and silent. Because many principals in these prep centers refuse to allow Mandarin in the classroom and the fact that these students do not initially understand basic commands in English, this creates a sense of chaos that hampers the learning process.

Praising Students: Is it Necessary for ESL Settings? - TEFL Blog
Elizaveta Pachina
Teaching Ideas
I am a teacher in a training center for young learners in China, Beijing. Our school has a praise system, to be more precise our school has its own money that students can use to buy some toys from our school's shop. To get this money students should listen to the teacher, do their homework, and pass the tests. The teachers can give them money even for each lesson if they want. And it is really useful to maintain discipline in the classroom. It's the first reason why we should praise the students. The second reason is that if you praise the students it increases their self-esteem and they are more likely to enjoy their course and be motivated during it.
Speaking from my experience, I praise the students in several ways:

Although students may be in the same class, they may not necessarily have the same ability level. This can be seen in all classes; however, this can become very noticeable in a class designed to teach a language to someone who is not a native speaker. It is up to the teacher to notice these differences in ability levels and restructure their lessons accordingly. There are a few different strategies that will help with gaps in ability levels, which consist of the use of different materials, providing the same materials with a different task, paring weak and strong students together, and even doing nothing.

How To Create Interesting Teaching Materials - TEFL Blog

Legendary musician Paul McCartney once said, or rather sang, "When you've got a job to do you've got to do it well. You've got to give the other fellow hell." I don't believe anybody wants to be the middle of the road teacher, who just gets through each day, though I have seen many teachers who are. Before I started, I asked myself what makes the best kind of teacher and who were the best teachers in my life? There are many styles of teacher, but the answer I came to is the inspiring style of teacher – the teachers who made me WANT to learn and to go out and read and study on my own. The way they did that was by using their skills to make learning interesting and irresistible.

American and British English: Color or Colour? A Brief History and Notable Differences - TEFL Blog
Elizaveta Pachina
Alumni Experiences
English is a language that, like other languages, has a rich history dating back thousands of years. Sort of mash-up of ancient Germanic languages and Roman Latin, English is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world thanks to the spread of British and American influence across the world over the last several hundred years. It is a tricky language, infamous for its many exceptions and grammatical nuances. While English, compared to some languages, has a relatively low variation between regional dialects (low enough for speakers of radically different dialects to understand each other at least partially), these differences can be significant enough to confuse someone who is learning English as a foreign language. Among the various dialects... [Read more]
