A Day in the Life of an ALT on the JET (Japan Exchange and Teaching) Programme - TEFL Blog
Georgia Payne
Destinations TEFL Information Alumni Experiences
The unofficial motto of the JET Programme is 'every situation is different (ESID).' This is completely true, and every JET's day looks different depending on whether they work in a public or private school, whether they have co-JETs or are solo, their teaching partner's style, and the school's schedule. I teach in a private junior and senior high school in central Tokyo, where students are aged 12-18. The following is my own experience, but every ALT's (assistant language teacher) experience on the JET Programme is vastly different.
Wake up, get ready for school and commute to school 6:30 - 7:50
Home room: 8:10 - 8:30
Periods 1-4
Lunch time 12:30 - 13:10
Periods 5-7

One More View on Consistent Lesson Planning - TEFL Blog
Elizaveta Pachina
Alumni Experiences
This is different thoughts on this as with on one hand some people say that it makes the lesson too rigid and on the other side other people say that it is essential for every teacher to do. I have been teaching English for about 3 years now. I feel I have improved in different areas of my teaching. The area that I have noticed the biggest change in over the course of those 3 years is my lesson planning. When I started teaching I would mostly just get the topic of the lesson and then basically just teach from my head using that topic. However, after a while, I got to speak to my fellow teachers and they introduced me to the importance of lesson planning and how to do this the proper way. I began to see the results almost immediately after I started... [Read more]

Rapport With Students From Day 1 - TEFL Blog
Elizaveta Pachina
Teaching Ideas
Establishing rapport with students can be challenging sometimes, especially if this is a class of students who've already had different teachers or the students change around a lot. When there is inconsistency in teaching style or people, it can be more difficult for students to create a more meaningful bond. One of the key things I've always found in establishing rapport is to be friendly, positive, kind, consistent and understanding. There are different ways a teacher can show this. The way s/he introduces her/himself and shows interest in students initially, the level of professionalism displayed, the teacher's attitude towards students, the reward system put in place and the expectations set among many others. I have broken these down individually... [Read more]
Advantages of one on one private English instruction - ✔️ ✔️ ✔️ ITTT TEFL & TESOL

Whether you are looking to advance your career, enhance your travel experiences, or simply broaden your horizons, mastering English can be a game-changer. While group classes can be beneficial for some learners, there are distinct advantages to one-on-one private English instruction that can significantly enhance your language learning journey.
One of the most significant benefits of one-on-one private English instruction is the personalized learning experience it offers. Unlike group classes where the curriculum is designed to cater to the needs of a diverse set of learners, private lessons are tailored specifically to your individual goals, strengths, and...
