Tefl reviews - Classroom Management For Teaching English As A Foreign Language Teacher Talk Time - ✔️ ✔️ ✔️ ITTT
When considering Teacher Talk Time, we can perhaps look at the major advantage and disadvantage of the teacher actually talking. The major advantage is that you as the teacher are usually the only real model for the language, the source of correct English. So at some stages, your talking time is very important to the students. So when you?re modeling language, that use of Teacher Talk Time can be very advantageous. There are major disadvantages to overusing Teacher Talk Time, however, and perhaps the major one is that whenever the teacher is talking, the students are listening and if the students are listening, then they themselves cannot be talking. So, Teacher Talk Time reduces the opportunity for Student Talk Time. So, we should try to minimize the use of Teacher Talk Time... [Read more]

English as a Tool for Global Communication - TEFL Blog
Elizaveta Pachina
Teaching Ideas
First of all, let us define the meaning of the phrase "global language"? I suppose a "global language" is the language suitable for communication among a huge amount of people around the world. We also can say it is the language of global meaning. After the Second World War and especially since the beginning of the 90th years of the twentieth century, English became the most common international language. Artificial languages, created specifically for international communication, for example, Esperanto, are also supposed to be multinational. Common characteristics of international languages are: a lot of people are native speakers; among the non-native speakers there are a lot of people who use this language as a second one; this language is used in many... How Confidence Can Affect a Language Student's Performance - TEFL Blog
Mark Crocker
Alumni Experiences Teaching Ideas
When a new teacher goes into a classroom for the first time they are confronted with the reality of human students, rather than what they have learned about teaching from a book. Often what they find is that much of what goes on does not necessarily follow their carefully planned lesson, as real life and the unpredictability of human nature can get in the way. Perhaps only after a couple semesters of experience can a teacher really figure out what to do with all levels of students to help build self-confidence in a skillful manner.

My teaching experience began in a whirlwind. I graduated from college a semester ahead of my class, married, lived with my husband in my sister's basement for two months, and moved to South Korea. We had no idea what to expect. Sure, we'd read the blogs, talked to the director of our school, and even talked with people we know who had lived and taught in Korea. It still didn't fully prepare us for what to expect, how amazing it would be, and how hard. We lived in South Korea for 19 months teaching three through seven year olds daily and first through third graders several times each week.
