Shelton Development Group is a small but friendly organization that places teaches in the four major cities of North Vietnam. Hanoi, Hai Phong, Ha Long and Vinh. We are an established company with a new management team that is aiming to run an ESL program that provides the best possible language teaching in difficult market conditions.
We are looking for a good TEFL qualified teacher who has experience of teaching children who lack motivation and an incentive to learn. It is important that the teacher understands that they will take on a challenging role of teaching in a culture that has experienced a merry go-round of poorly-qualified international teachers with questionable social problems. It takes time to bond with the children and win the support of the domestic teachers. The local culture in three of the cities is only just becoming used to having westerners live and work in their region, and it is important that the successful candidate develops both the tact and patience to handle the position. The candidate must also understand that the Vietnamese system priorities fun and creative bonds over classroom discipline and they must ensure they bond with the children and have the patience to achieve this goal. For this reason we only accept applications from native speakers of English, between the ages of 20 – 45.
Details of Position
Teaching Level: mainly High-school students from 14 to 18 years. Number of students: 20-25 persons/class
Course start: June 13th 2011
Teaching hours: From 18 to 20 hours/week (Any extra hours will be paid extra) Teaching place: Hai Phong City
Contract duration: June 13th 2011 –August 15th 2011
(The contract may extend to the next school year from August 15th 2011 to April 29th 2012 based on teachers' qualifications and performance)
Remuneration and Benefits:
Shelton English Training Centre offers a highly competitive package of benefits to teachers, which is based on qualifications and experiences. We give special offers to teachers with outstanding qualifications, experience and plan to stay in Vietnam for long time. We offer a sliding scale of pay according to the conditions in the local market and the particular qualifications that a successful teacher holds. If the candidate possesses both a good degree and a full teaching-
certificate (1 -2 years training) PGCE/QTS then they will receive the top band. If they have a good degree, 2 years of experience, and TESOL, TEFL, CELTA or equivalent then they will receive the mid-range of pay. If the candidate has a low degree classification, TESOL and a lack of experience then they receive the lower rate of pay. We also make exceptions for Female teachers with valuable experience of teaching at both the Nursery and Primary level.

In addition we pay for all Visas, pay an additional $20 a month in a lump sum upon completion of the contract (to help cover the costs of medical insurance), and offer a range of bonuses linked to contracts secured by the International teachers (possibly 1 or 2 a year).
Another positive feature of our contracts is that we having a sliding scale of compensation for cancelled lessons that is related to the amount of notice that a teacher receives; more than 3 days notice = 0%, 3 days to 8 hours = 40%, and less than 8 hours notice then we pay 100% of the wages for the cancelled lesson.
Finally, we know that it is important for teachers to be well rested and happy, and we are one of the few educational establishments in the entire country that offers a reasonable year schedule as follows.

In return we expect our teachers to teach 20 hours a week, do an extra 2 hours lesson prep and marking per week, and behave professionally when they deliver the curriculum to the best of their ability. We expect all of our teachers to complete a 10 month contract from September 2011, but we are offering shorter contracts up to this date.
