Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

This unit provided a clear cut insight about the use of course materials. Authentic and graded materials have both advantages and disadvantages and teachers should be aware of the criteria to choose and use them according to students' needs. I found it was very useful to know that we don't have to like all the activities in a textbook but instead we can manage to adapte, replace, omit and supplement according to our teaching philosophy. In this Unit I have learnt a lot about the productive skills: speaking and writing. Teacher's goal is to encourage students to use language and reduce possible hurdles, avoid sensitive subjects. It is important for the students to see the purpose and point in communicating with the teacher or students. Writing skills are important although less popular among students. The teacher should encourage creative writing like poems, songs etc.
