Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.
This unit gives a basic introduction to teacher and student roles, and how teachers can facilitate learning by engaging with student at an appropriate language level. This unit seems too basic for me, beyond the list of European language levels. I think it would be more interesting if there was a bit more role-playing involved in the description, or a story was used to depict these roles, like a fairytale.Unit 6 covers the different ways past tenses are structured and rules surrounding the way they are put together. Past tense oddities, such as the irregular verbs found in past simple, are also touched on. I find the simple explanations of what tense gets used where very helpful, for me explaining the uses of tenses had always been particularly difficult despite (or possibly due to) being a native speaker.
