Combine the flexibility of an online course with the teaching practice of an in-class course. Choose your combined course from the locations listed.
Like many other European countries, Germany has a great demand for EFL teachers who can teach business English. Once you earn your TEFL/TESOL certificate, landing a job shouldn’t be a problem.
Pay for teaching EFL in Germany is rather high; however, the cost of living can be high too. Germany has a preference for American English, so it’s easier for U.S. citizens to find work here than it is in some other European nations.
In order to compete more effectively in the global marketplace, many companies from large corporations to smaller businesses want their employees to learn English. Because of this, there are often more jobs available than teachers who are qualified to fill the positions.
Germany is a big nation so you’ll need to narrow down which city you’d like to live in. Once you’ve done that, you should identify potential employers and email them your up-to-date resume. Business centers and language schools represent most of what’s on offer in terms of TEFL jobs. That being the case, if you have a good IT or business background, you shouldn’t have too many difficulties finding a suitable job.
If you don’t yet have this experience, you might want to start by looking for TEFL jobs in smaller German towns. The demand for general English teachers is higher in these parts of the country. Competition is not as high in the smaller towns. As long as you have at least a bachelor’s degree, as well as the desire to stay in Germany for a while, you should be able to get a job fairly quickly.
Teaching EFL in Germany is easier than it can be in other European nations and this is especially true for U.S. citizens. Generally, they can find a job and then have their employer write a letter to begin the paperwork. Canadians can also get a work visa, however, they will have to travel back to Canada with a letter from their employer in order to start the work visa process.
Full-time EFL Teacher Needed in Kassel, Germany
ExpandDate posted:2012-02-02 | Writer: Finer English | Email: peter.schimunek@yahoo.com
An established, thriving language school in central Germany is seeking a full-time EFL teacher to teach small groups of business professionals according to their individual learning needs. Finer English is an established, thriving language school started by Joe Finer in 1998. The school's success is built on a structured approach to teaching, centered on language audits to determine not only the students' competence in English but also the specific work activities for which English is necessary. All students are taught according to their individual learning needs. Focusing primarily on companies in Kassel, Germany, the school's teaching team now numbers 25, including teachers for six languages besides English.
Finer English is a virtual school - we have no school building and no staff-room where teachers can swap ideas at lunch-time. Lessons are taught on our clients' premises - all of which are reachable by public transport from Kassel city centre.
Because teachers do not meet daily, regular communication by telephone and e-mail is essential. Teacher training sessions are held about every two months to develop teaching skills, exchange ideas and reinforce the co-operative team spirit.
Teaching according to each student's specific business needs means we use no set text books unless specifically requested. Teaching materials appropriate to the needs of each individual student are provided by Finer English.
Qualifications:
Applicants should be native speakers of English and have relevant teaching experience.
A formal EFL qualification, such as TESOL or TEFL is preferable.
Personality is important. We are seeking dynamic, energetic, open-minded teachers with a passion for both teaching and the English language.
Applicants should also have a good knowledge of world events and business terminology.
Finally, candidates should also be excited both to learn new things and continually improve themselves as teachers.
Compensation:
The advertised vacancy is a freelance position. Starting rates are commensurate with the teacher's experience.
Finer English is pleased to offer teacher support and has a member of staff for that purpose. We will gladly assist the successful applicant with the red tape process and help find suitable housing.
Please send your CV and a recent photo to Peter Schimunek (Assistant Director of Studies) at the address given on the job heading to start your application process.
