Needs and Skills Assessment During the First Business English Lesson
ESL teachers when they meet their class for the first time should learn what students know and what they need to know. Even for General English in schools or university classrooms where students have more or less the same level of English. There should be some short tests to determine students' gaps in knowledge, personal objectives or institutional requirements.Especially assessment is needed when teaching Business English. This essay will discuss types of assessments in the early stages of teaching Business English to students.

Evaluation and Testing of Chinese Native Speakers Learning English
The issue of testing and/or evaluation is an important topic in general, however, it is of personal import to me because I currently work as a full-time ESL teacher in China, over half of who are pre-school and kindergarten age. In China, children begin primary school (first grade), at age seven, plus they have three years of mandatory kindergarten, which begins at age four. English is not taught in Chinese public schools until primary school (grade three), and then, for only forty minutes, three times per week. For these reasons, the average Chinese child is not formally taught English until they are nine years old, and even then, for only three hours per week.

Across the globe, there are five widely accepted levels of EFL learners, which are represented in the teaching materials and book series available for students and teachers.
These levels are commonly referred to as:
Note: Any levels above these are typically termed 'advanced' and aren't usually taught in standard settings.

Another series, "Cutting Edge," encompasses six levels, including an advanced level, along with the standard five.

Having a meticulously constructed lesson plan is an essential tool for any educator. It provides a roadmap, without which the trajectory of a lesson can go astray rapidly. Although as you amass experience, you may find that you don't need to invest as much time in detailed planning, in the early days of your teaching career, a robust plan can make the difference between a smooth, successful class and a chaotic one. A comprehensive lesson plan enables you to articulate your learning objectives, organize your time efficiently, prepare the required materials and equipment, and anticipate potential issues along with their solutions. My Experience of Teaching at a Chinese University
Teaching English at a university and in a foreign country entails different considerations and expectations which vary from country to country. University students have often studied English for numerous years, but have not had many opportunities to practice it with native speakers. For China specifically, tests and textbooks have often been seen as the ultimate achievement, not a means to the actual production of English (Wen 2016). With this in mind, it is crucial to utilize the often large pre-existing pool of knowledge of English that many students already have into productive tasks that allow students to creatively and critically apply their knowledge to practical application....
