Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.
This unit introduced to me the methods of teaching new vocabulary and grammatical structures. I felt it was very helpful, straightforward, and practical. It was a good reminder of the ESA methods of teaching all the while it gave examples that make sense for teaching these subjects. For example when introducing new words using pictures or real items at the engage phase is a very practical way to introduce something new to the students.Unit 10 highlights the differences between effective and ineffective teaching through the use of real English language class video recordings. The first video presented a problematic teaching style and the second video presented a more successful teaching style. After watching the videos, I feel I have experienced the discomfort students may suffer when a teacher claims a lesson is easy, when in reality the material may be challenging.
