This unit provided an elegant synopsis of the art of creating an educationally-conducive environment. This template for teaching provided practical techniques for navigating the seeming paradox between maintaining classroom conduct and discipline and eliciting student interaction and engagement. It was shown that, as a teacher, one must be gently firm, inspiringly unassuming, and graciously motivating.The unit was a useful summary of basic grammar concepts that served to refresh my memory of some grammar concepts. It was also useful for learning terms that I was unaware of, such as gerunds and participles. Of the different sections, the one detailing verbs was most useful. I have previously struggled with teaching the different forms of verbs and now have a better means of explaining them to students.
