TEFL Salt Lake City Utah | TEFL USA

As the capital of the state of Utah, Salt Lake City has plenty to offer any trainee looking to take their TEFL/TESOL course here. Located at the southern end of the Great Salt Lake, the largest salt water lake in the western hemisphere, Salt Lake City is well known as the home of the Church of the Latter Day Saints. The city is also renowned as a center for outdoor sporting activities and was the first city to introduce bicycle lanes in the U.S.A. However, it was its hosting of the 2002 Winter Olympics that made the city a popular destination for winter sports enthusiasts and brought it to the attention of the wider world.

Founded in the 19th century by Mormon settlers, Salt Lake City had its first spate of economic growth due to mining and the arrival of the railroad. This early economy has since been replaced by a thriving tourist industry based on winter sports and other outdoor pursuits, as well as an equally thriving financial sector. This prosperity has led to the city's population becoming increasingly diversified and it is now home to people of many different ethnic and religious backgrounds, creating a thriving and fascinating place to live and study.

Intersected by two major freeways, it is easy to see why Salt Lake City is known as the “Crossroads of the West” as it is well placed as a jumping off point for further exploration of the wider area. The surrounding mountains offer plenty of opportunities for snowboarding and skiing in the winter and hiking, biking and rock climbing throughout the rest of the year. However, sports are not the only way to enjoy your stay in this city. There are thriving theater and music scenes as well as several art galleries and museums, not to mention all the major shopping centers that you would expect to find in a city of this size.

While ideal for those looking for adventure in the great outdoors, Salt Lake City also has plenty to offer those who prefer a more sedate form of entertainment. The city's combination of world class infrastructure and outstanding natural beauty, plus our high-quality facilities and professional teacher trainers, make Salt Lake City one of the best places to take your TEFL/TESOL course and start your journey as an English teacher.

The School

The 2002 Winter Olympic Games brought large investment into the infrastructure of Salt Lake City creating a modern, buzzing and exciting place to visit. Obviously the world class winter sports facilities are a major draw, as are the many other outdoor activities on offer throughout the year. However, it is possibly the stunningly beautiful natural surroundings that make taking our TEFL/TESOL course in Salt Lake City such a popular choice.

Located in the middle of the downtown area, the training school is close to all the local amenities you will require during your course, including banks, restaurants, supermarkets and a number of other shops. The city has an excellent light rail and bus network that covers all the major parts of the city and outlying area. Our school is a modern well-equipped building with wireless internet available throughout. You will also have access to a well-stocked resource library and photocopying facilities to help you prepare your lessons. For refreshment we provide an area for making tea and coffee and there is also a small shop selling snacks at the school.

Our course in Salt Lake City usually runs in the third week of the month, with classes starting at 5:30 p.m. and ending at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday to Friday, and from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Course numbers are kept small to ensure plenty of individual support for our trainees and because we operate in a real ESL school all trainees will have hands on experience teaching real students.

If you require accommodation during your stay in Salt Lake City you will find plenty of options to choose from. The city has accommodation to suit most preferences and budgets, although there is one particular option that we confidently recommend as it is conveniently located close to the school building and offers comfortable rooms at a reasonable price. Our recommended option is based on apartment-style rooms that include a private kitchenette area.

The main benefit of this option is that the kitchen is fully equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, stovetop and coffee maker, allowing you to prepare your own meals and therefore keep your overall costs down. Rooms also come with breakfast and access to Wi-Fi internet and laundry facilities. Although these features have proved to be popular with many of our previous students, you are free to make any other arrangements you prefer. Once you have finalized your booking for the course we will contact you with further details regarding your stay in Salt Lake City.
