This TEFL review was recorded by ITTT graduate Surangi. Surangi took the TEFL course with ITTT because she wanted to become an English teacher. She found the course introduced her to aspects of teaching that she was unaware of such as interaction between the teacher and students, lesson planning and discipline. The course also gave her the chance to refresh her knowledge of English grammar. In this lesson I was shown multiple ways of determining a students level as well as their progress learning English. I was also informed about other exams students may need to practice for. These exams include, external exams and Cambridge exams. Testing is very important for a student's success, because it allows me as the teacher to determine which areas each student is weaker in.This unit discussed about what is a course book and the lesson materials used by the teacher, namely the authentic materials and created materials. I learned that the lesson plan should not be based solely from the course book and the teacher can experiment on the lesson materials the she or he can use to augment the course book and to make the lesson more suitable for the students.
