Regular Openings For TEFL Teachers in Colombia

Date posted:2011-04-05 | Writer: Colombo Americano | Email: [email protected]

The Colombian-American Cultural Center in Barranquilla, a non-profit, binational center, was created in 1956 by a group of Americans and Colombians and with aid from the Embassy of the United States. We have limited openings for TEFL qualified English teachers. The Center has 28 classrooms, a bilingual library, art gallery, bookstore, multimedia room, cafeteria and patio. Barranquilla is situated on the north coast of Colombia. It is the commercial center of the entire coast, located about 120 kilometers from Cartagena and about 90 kilometers from Santa Marta (These two coastal cities are excellent tourist attractions).

Colombian applicants must speak and understand English extremely well, possess a bachelor’s or master’s degree and have teaching experience.  Native speakers require a Bachelor's degree and teaching experience with TEFL / TESOL qualification. All applicants must also pass our local proficiency examination.

If you meet these requirements you may send your resume to the academic department at the e-mail address given on the job heading.

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

In unit 6 I learned about past tenses. What I really took with me was looking at the structure at the sentence to indicate in which past tense it was being used. For example, I could see that the sentence \"When I arrived John cooked.\" Is a past simple sentence while \"When I arrived John had been cooking\" is a past perfect continuous sentence due to the structure rather than the usage of the sentence. This lesson on troubleshooting was quite useful as it gave examples and strategies of the most common problems teachers face in the classroom. Every classroom and group of students is different although this module gave common problems that teachers are likely to face. I enjoyed all the modules in this course and will definately be able to refer back and utilise the knowledge learnt in my future lessons.
