Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

This unit was about teaching receptive skills, reading and listening to students. The goal is not total comprehension of each word in whichever piece is being taught, but engaging what the students do know and can reasonably learn in a lesson. The thing I appreciated most about this unit was the lesson idea breakdowns with multiple study and activate parts, which is something I struggle with. This unit explains the different types of testing and evaluations done in regarding to language learning and proficiency. It also explains the different types of syllabuses (and how to develop one) that can be used depending on the needs of the class. It was interesting to learn of the world wide organizations involved in giving some standardization to language Testing such as the ALTE website.
