This section debates the importance of course books and materials for teachers. While coursebooks are a common part of teaching, there are specific benefits and disadvantages to using them. They can sometimes cause students to “switch off” or may not be appropriate for the classes’ needs. However, when used correctly course books can help support new concepts in the classroom.This unit explained the complexity of English phonology and how difficult it can be to understand and form the sounds that the language demands. Learning the phonetic symbols and understanding where each sound is made in the mouth will help me show this to students. While the unit itself gave me ideas for teaching, learning these topics helped me brainstorm my own ideas for my own classroom.
