This is what one of our TEFL graduates feels he has gained from the course, or a part of it, and how he plans to put into action what he has learned.
In this Unit we learned about materials, lesson planning, classroom management, and course books. Specifically, we learned about the difference between authentic and non-authentic materials. We also learned about how to plan a lesson and the reason for lesson planning. We were given an example and then in the task sheet, we were asked to do a lesson plan. Classroom management was covered, not by telling us what to do, but rather giving us different options, and some things not to do. Finally we learned about some pros and cons of using course books. I Found interesting the difference between authentic and non-authentic material I had never thought off the difference but now knowing the differences i can see how one may be more useful than the other. Also course books may also be useful but at the same time they can cut out a lot of language skills that may be useful for students and i like the way that was mentioned in this unit.
