English Grammar - Future continuous - Teaching Ideas - ESOL

 

The teaching idea for the future continuous covered in this video involves students picking a card with a picture of an activity on it and inviting their partner to join them. The other student then has to think up an excuse not to as quickly as possible in the future continuous tense. For example: Student A: Would you like to see a movie at the weekend? Student B: Sorry I can't, I'll be washing my hair. Ideas such as this are a great way for ESOL students to put the language they are learning to use in the classroom. Unit 11 is fully loaded with informative and attention to detail about reading and listening skills to the learners. It's not how read or listen it's about how our minds absorb the meaning of the words and give us the full picture and clear meaning about what we hear or read !! I guess this unit is very comprehensive everything about receptive skills or reading and listening skills.The grammar in this unit I already know , however what I did find helpful were the teaching ideas for each tense. From interview role plays and a memory game for the past simple to a detective game and diaries for past progressive. In addition, for the past perfect telling a story and getting the students to retell it from the end backwards was a great idea that i hope to use often.
