Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

In Unit 19, I learned about teaching special groups such as beginners, individuals, children, and business personnel. While I was reading this unit, I naturally began to reflect on the different groups I am teaching. As a JET working in Japan the majority of the people I teach are groups of schoolchildren. One thing I felt would have been a nice companion to this unit is a subsection on special needs. In this unit, I learned the methods and reasons for lesson planning. For instance, when designing your lesson plan, you should make it clear and simple, allow it to be flexible, and make sure there is a good mix of skills within it. Additionally, when preparing for class you should check to ensure equipment is working, have the lesson plan ready, and be prepared to chat with students when they arrive.
