THE ENGLISH SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATION SKILLS

General infromation about the school:

ESCS is The English School of Communication Skills, a system of private language schools in southern Poland (Krakow, Tarnow, Nowy Targ, Mylenice and Katowice). Our students are highly motivated and we think that you can find teaching here in Poland a pleasure. The schools cater to all levels of student at all ages, from children beginning their studies to adults at Post-Proficiency level. We teach courses both in the school and outside, where we send teachers to local companies and businesses. Lessons are taught using course books (which contain complete syllabuses and breakdowns of how to teach the various materials). By using the latest methods, combined with structured games and role playing, we aim to make the learning process as painless as possible. Ideally we would prefer the students to not even realize that they are learning.

We teach EFL (English as a Foreign Language), not ESL (English as a Second Language). Our school offers many extra-curricular clubs and activities for both students and teachers. There is a school library (which you can join for one year donating two books, any topic, in good condition). Some of the clubs are a painting and drawing club, a video club, a baseball club, a working drama club (which performs at local theatres) and a poetry and short story club. Any ideas for new clubs are welcome. The school system runs summer and winter camps in various regions of Poland.

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

This unit examined the issue of whether or not to use a course book, and if so, which one, as well as looking at other sources of materials. So, to clarify these ideas, this course based on many aspects such as Authentic Materials, Created Materials and Course Books. To conclude I will say that, the teacher has to create his/her own materials to either supplement the course book, or replace sections that are not suitable for the class. The unit explained the ways large and multi-level classes to be handled to impart the language successfully so that no students are left unattended with knowledge gap. Moreover, handling reluctant students also showed dexterity if applied with prudence. The most difficult part of native language speakers is also explained subtly so that no gap in the minds of students remains and english language is discreetly imbibed in their hearts.
