This is avery relevant unit for me as I own and run a school in Japan. Choosing the right book for students is crucial. Will it motivate or will it discaourage students. I have created my own material for some classes and found it successful. Using authentic material is a great way to keep students interested with the correct topic and level oppropriate. Having a range of games and activities is also a great way to balance a lesson.We look at different ways of evaluating student's levels and progress, as well as some of the common external exams that you may need to prepare our students for. Sometimes, however, it is useful to arrange for more formal means of feedback to take place and it may be compulsory for the institution that we are working in. There are a number of ways to assess a student's language level: tutorials, evolution by the students and tests.
