The Universidad del Mar (UMAR) – Campus Puerto Escondido is located on the south coast of Oaxaca, Mexico, offering 5-year degrees in nursing, biology, forestry, animal handling, and computer science. English is a required subject for all students at the university with a final TOEFL graduation requirement. All professors are hired on a full-time basis (40 hours per week) and must remain on campus from 8-1 and 4-7 from Monday to Friday, though class time is limited to 15-25 hours/week. Each instructor is given their own office and desktop computer. There is an opportunity to become tenured, and enjoy a sabbatical year of paid leave after 6 years of employment.

Applicants must meet the following requirements:
• Be a native speaker of English
• Have a passport from a country with English as an official language
• Have a BA or MA
• TEFL certificate (in case the applicant´s degree is not in this field)
Preferred:
• Conversational level of Spanish
• Current Valid Mexican Work Visa or Residency Permit
• Proposals for publication or presentation of educational research/language acquisition
• Collaborative, enthusiastic team members who continually challenge and encourage new ideas
• Experience working with ELLs or other marginalized communities
